I. Choice

1. Selection of mining drill bits

According to the nature of the rock, select a suitable carbide mining drill bit. Generally speaking, for rocks with high hardness, drill bits supplied by alloys with relatively low hardness should be used, whereas for rocks with relatively high hardness, drill bits supplied by alloys with relatively high hardness should be used. For extremely hard rocks, if the power of the rock drill is high, a three-blade or cross drill bit can be used. At this time, in order to facilitate the removal of the drill bit, the tapered hole of the drill bit can be 11° or 12°. For rocks with medium hardness and good integrity, in order to improve work efficiency and reduce costs, a ball-tooth drill bit can be used.

2. Selection of drill rod

The drill rod should ensure that there is only enough mating surface with the drill head. Under normal circumstances, the depth of the drill rod inserted into the drill head should be ≥ 25mm, and the contact surface should be as large as possible, and the minimum should not be less than 60%. Therefore, try to use a drill rod whose taper tip is machined. The drill rod used in conjunction with the drill head should be straight when viewed with the naked eye, and the impact end face of the drill tail should be flat.

Regardless of whether it is a drill head or a drill rod, the water hole should be kept clear.

II. Use

When using the drill bit and drill rod, you should first check whether the drill tail of the drill rod is flat, whether the taper tip and the taper hole meet the requirements, whether the cutting edge of the drill bit is damaged, whether the water hole is unblocked, and whether the wind pressure and water pressure are sufficient. etc. The collision of alloys between drill bits is strictly prohibited. When you start drilling, you should pay attention to drilling with light wind, that is, start drilling with a lower wind pressure, and then gradually adjust the wind pressure to normal after drilling is stable. When undoing the drill, try to turn it back as much as possible, and avoid forcibly knocking and pulling as much as possible to avoid damaging the drill head or drill rod and causing premature scrapping.
